Christmas 2020
Christmas 2020
December Services
Here’s our leaflet outlining all services this December: Christmas 2020 service listing leaflet
Carol services in church are impractical under the current arrangements, so we are having more reflective services of readings with a little music. There will be two different online carol services on December 20th.
Our 3 local live Nativity events are replaced by a single shared Zoom Nativity on Christmas Eve. All details are in the leaflet
Nativity Trails
From December 12th our Nativity Trails will be up in Brinkworth, Dauntsey, Great Somerford, Little Somerford and Lea. Sorry Garsdon – you don’t have any safe footpaths.
Each trail is the same, and is 7 laminated posters which will be displayed at ‘children height’ along public footpaths (on lampposts, etc). Each poster has a character from the Nativity story and a QR code which can be scanned with a mobile phone. The QR code links to a cut-out and colour sheets of the characters, so when you get home you can print and create your own Nativity set. You only need to scan the QR code once – it’s the same one on each poster. No prizes, apart from the satisfaction of having spotted all 7 characters and exhausting small children. We’ll leave the posters up beyond Christmas into early January for your post-Christmas walks.
The poster set is also here so you know what you’re looking for, and the printable characters are here in case the QR code doesn’t work
Brinkworth – 5 posters are on telephone poles along The Street from Watsons Fuels to the bike shop on Barnes Green, 1 is on School Hill and 1 is in Brooklands
Dauntsey – posters are on lampposts along The Green, from the gate of the play park to Middle Green Lane
Great Somerford – posters are along a circular route from the junction of Frog Lane and Park Lane, along past the church and along Top Street, then Dauntsey Road and the school and finally back across the Glebe Field past the Rectory
Lea – starts on Crab Mill Lane at the play park entrance, then along The Street to the school.
Little Somerford – starts on The Street near Vale Leaze, then along towards the church and finishes just before the Village Hall.
Let us know you’ve taken part by posting photos of your walk or your completed Nativity set on our Facebook page
Carols by Windowlight
Let’s spread some joy of Christmas carols through the windows of our homes in our communities this December. Create something to go in your window on the theme of a carol, and encourage others to do it too. Post a picture on the Carols by Windowlight Facebook page
